Q-lot Analysis

During the review of the ceramics form the A16 book in 2011-2016, it became apparent that not all of the qlots appeared in the ceramic files. A complete review of the scanned pages and various excel sheets was completed and results are found published here in the A16 book as well as included in the overall Ceramics book. This list contains an accounting of all the qlots and notes if shape sherds have been recorded and if body sherds have been recorded. The “Needs Analysis” column indicates those qlots where no analyzed sherds were found in our records, yet it can be reasonably assumed that these would have been analyzed at some point, however we are currently missing those records. As it is now not possible to revisit the storerooms and double-check this information it is noted here for transparency sake. The final column, “notes,” indicates any additional relevant information about why the sherds were likely not included. For example, topsoil units were regularly analyzed by looking through the sherds and counting them without a full analysis due to their limited use for typologies. As a result, we do not expect there to be full records for these qlots.

Overall, 154 qlots are unaccounted for. The majority of these qlots are from the beginning of the sequence and therefore represent the uppermost levels of the excavations. There are very few qlots unaccounted for from the clearly dated Khabur, UrIII/Isin-Larsa and Akkadian levels.
